The National Agency for the Control of AIDS has urged Nigerians to engage in responsible and safe sexual behaviour during the festive season to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
NACA offered the advice on Tuesday in a press statement released by its head of public relations and protocol, Toyin Aderibigbe.
The statement quoted the Director General of NACA, Dr Gambo Aliyu, as warning that unsafe and unclean sexual activities could significantly heighten the risk of HIV transmission and other STIs.
“The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, and as we come together with loved ones, it is paramount that we prioritise our health and well-being.
He added that the agency remained committed to raising awareness and promoting preventive measures that would safeguard public health.
