Chairman of the Kwara State Para-Athletics Association, Barrister AbdulKadir Lanre Aiyelabegan has reaffirmed his determination to engage and expose Kwara Para-athletes to national and international championship as a way of keeping them in top shape ahead of future competition.
Barrister Lanre Aiyelabegan stated this on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the maiden para athletics championship, organized by the association, held at the stadium complex.
Barrister Aiyelabegan who was recently Inaugurated as Kwara Para Athletics Association’s Chairman vowed to initiate laudable programs and activities which aimed at keeping para athletes in good shape and moving the association to the next level of development.
“We made a commitment that we shall meaningfully engage our athletes, and in fulfilment of these commitments, we have within the shortest time, proposed and actualize maiden edition of Kwara Para Athletics Championship”
He explained that the association will not relent in getting it’s athletes to compete in the national competition and consequently win medals for the state.
According to him, “we plan to host another glamorous para athletics championship before the end of the year and maiden north central para athletics championship in the first quarter of year 2024” Aiyelabegan added
He Commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for sustaining an enabling environment for sports development and thanked KSC boss, Mallam Magaji for finding him worthy to contribute his quota to sports development in the state.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the state sports commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Magaji applauded Barrister Aiyelabegan’s led Kwara Para Athletics Association for matching their words with action, stating that their association was the least to be Inaugurated and first organize championship.
Mallam Magaji who expressed the readiness of the state athletes ahead of the National Youth Games in Delta State, said organizing championship for state athletes by the associations will physically and mentally prepare them for immediate and future competitions.
