The Turaki of Ilorin and Senator representing Kwara Central, Saliu Mustapha, has mourned the death of a veteran broadcaster and former staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mallam AbdulRasaq Akanbi, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 66 after a brief illness.
In a condolence message issued by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, Senator Mustapha described the late AbdulRasaq Akanbi as a consummate professional, a voice of integrity, and one of the shining figures in Kwara’s broadcasting history.
The lawmaker noted that Akanbi’s dedication, eloquence, and commitment to truth in journalism earned him respect across the media landscape and endeared him to audiences far beyond the state.
While commiserating with the immediate family of the deceased, the media community, the Olowo Iyi Compound of Eruda, and the entire Ilorin Emirate, Senator Mustapha prayed to Almighty Allaah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, admit him into al-jannatul firdaus, and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
