Tech2Grassroots Organization holds Kwara Digital Education Summit, Commission E-library

Tech2Grassroots Organization on Monday, organized Kwara Digital Education Summit 2.0 at Banquet Hall, Ilorin Kwara State, in commemoration of United Nations International Day of Education
The event which was tagged “Changing Course, Transforming Education” was witnessed by dignitaries and elites in the State
Guest speaker of the event, MD Ilorin Innovative Hub, Temi Kolawole, while delivering his speech said, government needs to expose young children to technological skills for them to be able to delve and harness digital economy, adding that the earlier the school children are technologically skilled, the better for them, and also for the growth and development of the country at large.
He reiterated that there is high demand for technology in Nigeria to meet up with digital economy, saying, Nigeria has so much potentials.
The Onijara of Ijara Isin, His Royal Highness, Oba Pharm. Julius Ademola Ajibola at the event, urged parents to always pay good attention to their children. He implored the govt to prioritize digital education for more development in the State and Country at large
The Oba applauded the convener of the programme for his consistency and hardworking towards enhancing digital skills for the students. He also expressed satisfaction over the meritorious award bestowed on him
Also, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Saadatu Modibo Kawu said, Kwara State Government has partnered with Tech2Grassroots organization. She posited that the idea is to encourage students to deliver their best academically, added that Kwara learn program contract and the MoU was signed
Hajia Modibo reiterated that digital technology will be taken in public schools within the State, starting with four local governments which include; Baruteen, Offa, Ilorin West and Ilorin East respectively, adding that school curriculum needed to be re-examine to suit the universal desire
She commended the organizers, saying their efforts towards enhancing education sector is immeasurable. She affirmed that State government will continue to partner with the organization towards achieving quality education
She therefore expressed excitement over the Education Impact award conferred on her in recognition of her contributions towards the development of education and Sustainable Development Goals in the State
The convener of Kwara Digital Education Summit, Mr Oludele Ayobami, maintained that there was a great threat to Education sector in Nigeria due to Covid-19 pandemic, due to this, there is need for providing digital tools and capacity building, most importantly at the grassroots.
The organization also commissioned an E-library at the Kwara State Liberary complex, Ilorin, in realization of their ambitions.
Mr. Oludele added that It is a goal milestone to reach 16, 000 young people across the State, added that their objectives is to build at least 16 E-library across the Local Governments in the Kwara State
“It’s going to be a 5years partnership programme for the first phase to see how we can manage it, as a means to providing access to digital skills and capacity building for young people and for everybody”.
He appreciated the participants, also encouraged them to be digitally skilled and become digital citizen, added that the future cannot be imagined without technology
