The management of the Taraba State University, TSU, has warned staff who extort students under the guise of project supervision fees and project topics to desist.
Giving the directive on Monday, in a circular made available to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, the Vice Chancellor TSU, described the development as unacceptable.
The circular signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Isa Musa, warned that “the attention of the university management has been drawn to the increasing incidence of extortion of students by staff under the guise of project supervision fee and project topics approval fee.
The management decried the increasing rate of extortion in the institution, warning that the school management would not hesitate to bring to book a lecturer caught extorting students.
The management also asked students to always speak out against staff feeding on such acts.
Deans and heads of departments were advised to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
