After crashing out of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Sunday with Nigeria, Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, is enjoying a few extra days off to meet family and friends in his native Ilorin.
Awoniyi scored his first goal for Nigeria in the second group stage game against Sudan which the Eagles won 3-1.
According to German publication, Bild, Union Berlin manager, Urs Fischer, granted the striker some days off to visit his family.
“Martin Krüger, Union’s fitness coach, followed him, it was about control,” Fischer was quoted as saying by Bild.
“Taiwo received a programme from Martin for the days he was additionally released. He’s in the juice.
“He was doing well, did very well, got playing time and stayed in rhythm.
“That’s why Union gave him a few extra days off to meet family and friends in his native Ilorin.”
Awoniyi is expected back in Berlin on Saturday if the coronavirus test is negative and will return to team training on Monday.
