The Student Union Government of Kwara State College of Education (KWCOED) Ilorin on Wednesday, orientate the new student admitted to school, the event resonated with messages of hope, perseverance, and the transformative power of education.
The KWCOED SUG President, Senator Abdulganiy Tohiru, (Al-Ikhlashy) in his welcome address described the school KWCOED as a “fortress of knowledge” where they will be molded into competent and qualified teachers.
He encouraged them to invest in their education, recognizing its transformative potential for themselves, their families, and their communities.
The President urged the students to prioritize their studies, choose good friends, and avoid harmful activities like cultism, drugs, alcohol, examination malpractice among others.
He emphasized the importance of building a strong foundation in their first semester, as it will shape their future academic success. He also encouraged them to see “carryovers” as opportunities to learn and improve, not setbacks.
Senator Abdulganiy Tohiru shared his experiences as SUG President and offered words of encouragement, he wished them success in all their endeavors and assured them that they would “come out flying” from this learning experience.
On his part, The Speaker of the Union, Sen. Abdullahi AbdulAzeez Kolawole emphasized the importance of character and confidence over fleeting power, fame, and wealth. He urged students to prioritize their education, embrace its challenges,
The guest speaker, Dr. Bello Sakariyahu Adebayo, delivered lecture on the topic “Facing Life Challenges with the Right Attitude,” emphasizing the importance of positive attitude as a solution to challenges and encouraging students to face their studies and be ready for whatever life throws their way.
