A staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Muftau Akaje from Badari ward in Ilorin West local government, led other members of the party to defect to the All Progressives Congress.
Receiving the defectors at the Badari ward youth meeting on Thursday in Ilorin, chairman of the ward, Tajudeen Are assured the decampees of the party that there would be a level playing ground for all.
Disclosing reasons for their defection, Muftau Akaje said that the PDP structure is untrue and the defection was hinged on the development strides of Governor Abdulrazaq, as well as his leadership style.
“And to appreciate Governor AbdulRazaq’s good deed for one of our son, Ambassador Ibrahim Akaje who was recently appointed as commissioner in the state, we declare our full support for the progressives minded-people of the state”
On his part, Kwara State’s Commissioner for Housing and Urban, Ibrahim Akaje at the civic reception of the decampees, expressed delight at their alignment.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Education in the State, Barrister Senior Sulaimon said defectors moved given their neglect by the PDP, he assured them that the issues they faced in PDP would not be witnessed in their new home.
Special Adviser to Kwara Governor of Political Matters (Kwara Central) Prince Sulaimon however, urged them to use their political weight to ensure victory for the party in the 2023 general elections and beyond.
