The Youth Movement of (TYM) Okesunna-Ojagboro a non-governmental organization based in Ilorin on Saturday organised annual prayers and get together for its members
Prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdulwahab Jam Jam, thanked Allah for sparing the lives of everyone from last year to now, he said members of the association have received countless blessings and the community at large, he also prayed to Allah to continue uplifting the association and seeks Allah’s protection for members and stakeholders
Speaking on the topic, youth excesses, and the socio-political implications on the community, prominent stakeholder Engr Aliyu Temim advised parents on the solutions to Youth Excesses
Engr Temim said Parents should create sufficient time for their children, to perform their primary function of nurturing and moulding their children into the responsible citizenry
Speaking further, he said Parents should not allow the quest for improving their financial standards to overshadow their sole responsibility as Parents.
The government at all levels should provide corrective and punitive measures to tackle anti-socio-political behaviours and stay strong to it/The community development associations should also join in extensive sensitization to all our youths, the more reason we should live in peace and harmony, Giving maximum Cooperation to Security Agencies by exposing the evil/wrongdoers within our Community; even if they are our Children or Family Members
Empowerment and Employment for Youths is very vital because an idle hand is the devil’s workshop, he said
Speaking earlier, the acting chairman of TYM, Usman Adisa Issah, said the association has only one source of generating revenue but they need more sources for them to serve the community better.
He said the association has established a cooperative organisation which members are now benefiting from it, we have recorded tremendous achievements within the short time of the establishment
He also said the association is planning to hold an election that will usher in new executives that will be piloting the affairs of the association, he commend the outgoing executive especially the pioneer chairman Arc Ilias Sanni who is now the President of another community development association
In her remarks, Former Commissioner Hajia Halimat Ajoke Yusuf commended the TYM for their commitment towards the growth and development of Okesuna -Ojagboro and advised them to put more efforts
In his remarks, Mallam Shehu Idowu Chindo implored TYM to focus on career talk for the students in Secondary schools and urge them to establish guidance and counselling unit in the schools situated in the Okesuna /Ojagboro community
Speaking on the association, the pioneer chairman, Arc Ilias Sanni appreciated the stakeholders and members for the unwavering support given to him throughout his tenure as the chairman, he promised to continue to contribute his quota to the development of the community
