Smart City : Igbomina Youth Assembly Disowns Ifelodun Youth Development Association’s Statement

The Igbomina Youth Assembly wishes to disassociate itself from the recent statement credited to one Ifelodun Youth Development Association (IfYDA) regarding the proposed Smart City project in Kwara State.

This was contained in a press statement made available to Just Event Online TV on Tuesday by Abdulrasaq Ismaheel Opeyemi, IYA Publicity Secretary

We want to clarify that IfYDA does not represent the collective voice of Ifelodun or Kwara South senatorial district as a whole.

For emphasis, the decisions, resolve and statements on matters concerning the development of Igbomina land and Kwara south are unmistakenly exclusive of the Omo Ibile Igbomina, Kwara South Consultative Forum and other registered relevant stakeholders of note.

These bodies are better equipped to address significant matters on behalf of our district.

The recent statement by IfYDA does not in anyway reflect the sentiments of neither the entire Ifelodun local government area nor that of Igbomina land as a whole. We urge the public to disregard their statement as it does appear like a figment of imagination of a confused set of impostors and mischief makers.

The Assembly seizes this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the initial positions of Omo Ibile Igbomina and Kwara South Consultative Forum on matters of development in the district because their positions jointly reflect inclusiveness and wide consultations.

While we appreciate the efforts of the Kwara State Government in implementing developmental projects across the state, including the proposed Smart City initiative which is an offshoot of Ilorin Master Plan, we emphasize the importance of equitable distribution of projects based on the needs of Igbomina People in particular and Kwara South in general.

We urge the government to consider various locations within Igbomina land for development projects while ensuring *that no avenue is given to project siting that can cause land dispute between districts or blocs in the state in the name of developmental project*
