The Kwara State Government led by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved 7.2 million nairas for the payment of backlog salaries and other entitlements of the staff of Kwara State Model Secondary School, Ilorin
Payment to concerned staffers will commence by next week, which will put an end to incessant protests and strikes by the staff of the school
In a press statement made available to Just Event Online on Saturday by the acting Provost Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Dr Ahmed Jimoh appreciated the state governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his magnanimity in clearing the money the staff of Model Secondary School owed by the previous administration
Dr Ahmed also said, the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin has begun the Payment of June salaries to the academic staff and July to the junior staff of the non-academic staff. We are awaiting for the bailout to complete the remaining salary hopefully within the shortest period
He however pleaded to the state government for a bailout for the college to July salaries for the teaching so they can suspend the industrial strike they embarked on for the past nine weeks
He charged the teaching staff both senior and junior to appreciate the governor for the minimum wage signed for the state-owned tertiary institutions and be more committed and hard work in discharging their duties
He enjoins the students to shun all social vices and be good ambassadors of the college and state when they resumed back to school for the academics
On behalf of the College staff, management, and council I commended the governor for prioritising education which is the bedrock of any nation, also appreciate the commissioner for tertiary education, Head of Service of Kwara State, JASUTI executive, COEASU members, negotiation team to be commended
