Not less that five persons have lost their lives to a road accident that occured on Wednesday night along Modi, Gaa Saaka area of Ilorin West Local Govt of Kwara State. Two are in critical condition while others were discharged.
Recounting the sad occurrence, Chairman, Ilupeju Community, Oyebisi Babatunde Jamiu said the accident occured around 7:30pm as a result of collision between Tiper and tricycle.
He said the nine persons who boarded the tricycle were immediately rushed into nearby hospital but were referred to the state teaching hospital, Surulere Ilorin after which five died instantly including siblings, Aminah and Abdulsamad from Ogundele community.
He added that two persons from Ilupeju Community, Salamat Suleiman and Meimunat AbdulRashed were also involved in which the latter is among the deceased.
He further said that the deceased was buried in the early hours of Thursday.
The Chairman however said the Tiper driver is still at large added that the police is aware of the incident and have take full control.
He attributed the causes of the recurring accident to deplorable state of the road despite frequent plea to the state govt for reconstruction.
He therefore called for urgent intervention to avert further occurrences.
Father of the deceased siblings, Lukman Adisa Lukman expressed sadness over the sad incident.
