The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives has said two oil companies indebted to the Federation Account have refunded about N28.7 billion to the government.
The committee is investigating the audit report of the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation for the 2021 financial year.
House spokesman Akintunde Rotimi (APC, Ekiti) announced this in a statement yesterday in Abuja.
The statement said Chorus Energy Limited settled its outstanding liability of $847,623 (N1.2 billion) on March 11, while Seplat Production Development Limited fully discharged its obligation by remitting $18.39 million (N27.6 billion) between March 10 and March 14, this year.
Rotimi said the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has been furnished with evidence of payments for final verification.
