The Member representing Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun, and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Tunji Olawuyi, has thrown his weight behind the granting of local government autonomy, describing it as a significant step towards decentralising power and deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Media Aide, Olayinka Owolewa, Olawuyi applauded the move, saying it would alleviate the burden on National Assembly members and enable them to focus on larger-scale development and legislation.
“By empowering local governments, we are unlocking the full potential of our great nation and stimulating grassroots growth.
“I commend this bold step towards strengthening our federal system and unlocking the full potential of our great nation.
“This bold step will lead to more inclusive and effective democratic governance, and I commend all stakeholders for their efforts in making this a reality,” Olawuyi said.
