Ahead of the February 25, presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party has charged security agencies to beef up security around the offices and facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission from any attacks by the All Progressives Congress.
PDP presidential campaign had earlier urged the electoral umpire not to engage services of the Lagos State Park and Garage Management Committee under the leadership of Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo, who is believed to be a member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Monday, stopped the INEC from engaging the services of MC Oluomo, to distribute election materials in the state pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed by the Labour Party and five others.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of party on Monday, said, “It would be recalled that our party had earlier alerted of series of designs by some frustrated and violence-inclined APC governors and the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign to cause widespread crisis, truncate the elections, subvert our democracy and impose an undemocratic situation on our country, just because the APC has been rejected by Nigerians.”
Ologunagba charged the security agencies to take all necessary steps to provide adequate protection for INEC facilities, equipment and personnel before, during and after the elections.
