No fewer than 100 Kwara Youth have so far been trained in 3D Cad Training and Development of Design Concepts, the training was organised by Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) and sponsored by Kwara State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu.
While speaking, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu expressed optimism that the participants would go to their various communities to initiate positive changes in the engineering profession
He also stated that the participants had been trained to be proficient in their chosen professions
While commending the Kwara state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his humanitarian stride, he said the Gov is a good example that believes in giving back to society
On his part, NSE President, Engr. Tasiu Gidari Wudil FNSE FNIEEE, ably represented by the first National Vice President from Ilorin Branch, Engr Joseph Sunday Adebayo FNSE FNIEE commended the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu for his investment in human capital development, what you have done is what our nation need presently
The Chairman NIMechE Ilorin Chapter, Dr S A Yahaya MNSE, MNIMechE in his speech, said “It is with great joy that I welcome you all to this closing ceremony of a week-long training on 3D Computer Aided Design and Additive Manufacturing for Kwara Youths.”
He commended Commissioner for works and transport, Engr Suleiman Rotimi for efforts towards making sure that Kwara Youths are sufficiently empowered for self-reliance
Speaking with newsmen, the National Chairman of NIMechE, Engr Dr Mrs Olufunmilade Akingbagbohun FNSE FNIMechE, said the mechanical engineers are working tirelessly to have made-in-Nigeria products, some tools that we need are one of the reasons we have programs like this, with the knowledge acquired here, Kwara young ones now have opportunities of creating good designs, ideas and initiatives that will useful for the profession
She appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for works and transport, Engr Rotimi for taking the bull by its horns in ensuring the challenges engineers are facing, come to pass. “This training has empowered 100 youths to be able to design and expand their analytical thinking capability”
Speaking on Nigeria’s transportation system, she said, the organisation is partnering with foreign universities to train people in railway maintenance because only mechanical engineers can occupy that space.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mrs Abimbola commended the giant stride of the honourable commissioner for works been transport, Engr Rotimi Iliasu and promised to justify what they have been taught in the past week
The event was graced by GM Lower Niger River Basin, Engr Saheed Aremu, Elder Oyin Zubair, senior staff from the Ministry of Works and Transport, family members of the participant, among others
