Police to set up special protection squad for schools

The Nigeria Police will soon introduce the “Saver School Programme” in all primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the country.

The programme will save the schools and the students from unnecessary exposure to bandits and kidnappers in every part of the country.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8 comprising of Kwara and Kogi state, Alhaji Ishola Babaita disclosed this in Ilorin, Kwara state while addressing men and officers of Nigeria Police as well as other stakeholders including vigilantes, hunters and Fulani leaders during a two-day working visit to the state.

“In order to have a more focused and robust response to the existing challenge of constant attacks on educational institutions, culminating in the abduction of students, the Police has marshalled an action plan and designed a couple of strategies (both kinetic and non-kinetic) to prevent or checkmate such incidences from being a recurrent challenge in our polity.
