The Students Union of the University of Ilorin led by Executive President Taofik Wali Opeyemi will tomorrow Tuesday meet with the leadership of Kwara Police Command over the reported cases of brutality and harassment by some members of the Kwara State Police Command

The President made this known In a press statement signed and released by PRO of the union, Olabode Stephen Opeymi on Monday on the official website of the Union which was obtained by JUST EVENT ONLINE TV

REPORTED CASES OF POLICE HARASSMENT IN ILORIN*

The leadership of the Union is not unaware of the reported cases of brutality and harassment on members of our Union by some members of the Kwara State Police Command and drastic actions are currently being taken to ensure justice is served.

After several reports and complaints, the Commissioner of Police has hereby directed that some of the erring officers be redeployed while investigations continue to ensure appropriate sanctions are taken against them.

Also, we have been scheduled for a meeting with the leadership of the command in the early hours of tomorrow, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, to further discuss ways to bring an end to the incessant harassment.

Ultimately, we urge our colleagues in Ilorin to remain law-abiding and not hesitate to report any case of harassment, extortion, intimidation or brutality to the Union or the command. Be assured of our unalloyed commitment to remain people-focused and steadfast in the struggle to attain justice.
