The Nigeria Police Force has said it acquired anti-riot weapons, water cannons, and Armoured Personnel Carriers ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking with our correspondent on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said, “The IG, Usman Baba, officially received the equipment on Friday. The IG inspected the newly-acquired equipment consisting anti-riot weapons, APCs, water cannons, among others today, in preparation for distribution to police commands and formations for the 2023 general elections.’’
Adejobi noted that the development showed that the police were prepared for better election security management in the country.
“Non-state actors, criminals and political thugs are warned to maintain peace as we need it in Nigeria,” the Force spokesman stated.
