The Kwara State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWSSA), in collaboration with Partnership for Expanded Water supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (PEWASH) on Tuesday trained representatives from 48 communities in Moro and Asa Local Govt, on capacity development of caretakers, LAMs, and WASHCOMS in Beneficiary Communities on Maintainance and Sustainability of Provided Water and Sanitation Facilities, which held at Fresh Hotel and Okoolowo Area respectively
The acting General Manager, RUWASSA, Mr. Muhazu Danjuma at the training session said, 48 communities in the two Local Government were provided motorized boreholes under Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq led administration, for them to have access to quality, constant and adequate water supply
Danjuma said the PEWASH program is designed to deliver sustainable access to safe water, improved sanitation and hygiene to all rural inhabitants by 2030
It is also meant to improve public health, nutrition and support poverty reduction efforts and will also contribute to improvements in food production and income of rural dwellers
He further, explained that the PEWASH program serves to show the commitment of this administration to the welfare of our people. It is a product of His Excellency’s investments in basic things that make life worth living for the people. , the Governor paid N150m counterpart funds for the PEWASH program through Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), the reason why they have able to provide 48 motorized boreholes in 48 communities in two local governments, he posited that the federal government will also dig 48 in Patigi and Offa local government respectively
He however implored the youths to make sure of the training acquired whenever their communities needed their services
Also, the PEWASH Officer of Moro LGA, Mr. Razaq Ajape, while giving his admonitions maintained that sanitation of water is essential in human life to achieve good health. He said, while trying to safe a problem, another will emanate if the water is not well purified
He encouraged the community dwellers to maintain and sanitize the water to avoid related diseases
The Board Chairman of RUWSSA, Engr. Yusuf Abdulmumeen, while presenting working tools for the representatives, urged them to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment and also implore them to use it for the purposes meant for. He commended Gov Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for his hard work and implored him to do more
The members of the communities, while responding to an interview to JUST EVENT ONLINE disclosed that they are suffering from water for decades but the administration of Gov AbdulRazaq has put an end to the sufferings
They, however, expressed excitement and applauded the Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman for bringing succor to them.
