The Peoples’ Democratic Party Federal House of Representatives candidate for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun federal constituency, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke has affirmed that the solution to corruption in Nigeria is a draconian law.

Hon. Hassan disclosed this during an international conference organized by the School of General Studies of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State.

While speaking on the theme titled “setting agenda for rapid national development through good governance,” Honorable Hassan noted that corruption has hindered the clock of progress of the country. He emphasized that Nigeria’s constitution cannot take care of corruption like draconian law which is in practice in some developed countries.

Speaking further, he noted that the two factors hindering good governance are lack of core values and corruption.

He said the part of core values that is lost is the choice of people who only prefer to vote for candidates with a huge sum of money against the ones with ideas and experience.

He however stated that independent institutions, free education, and change of curriculum in tertiary institutions are part of solutions to the problems affecting good governance in Nigeria.
