Op-Ed: The Hon. Abdulkadir Oba Magaji I know By: Abdulqudus Olansile Ibrahim

According to Oscar Wilde, he said, “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention” and realizing this makes one want more. My first meeting with him was when he visited my family to express his condolences on the death of my father.

I was not so moved there because of course everyone was with us to mourn the Great Oladimeji. Going forward, during the preparation period for the public presentation of my second book titled “The Social Doctor”, my planning committee and I decided to have him as the chairman of the big event.

At first, I was skeptical about his presence because as you all know, politicians are always busy, especially those who directly represent the people.

I remember on the first day of our visit, I introduced myself as the son of his political partner, Hon Oladimeji Osere. On hearing this, he greeted me with warmth and compassion and offered me a place to sit. He, however, promised to help both in kind and cash. As the date drew near, I visited him for the second time, but then to deliver my reminder letter to him.

On the day of the event, was another mystery. Not only did he come, he came together with Dr. Abdulwasiu Tejidini, the current General Manager of KWASSIP. His presence that day made me feel loved and encouraged. They were both instrumental in making the day blessed.

Having someone with such a respectable personality is a blessing for Kwara State, especially the Magaji Ngeri Constituency he represents in the state House of Assembly. It is no mere gamble to say that we are blessed to have him as our representative.

I see daily the unprecedented empowerment programmes he has launched which know no bounds; the philanthropic efforts to put a smile on the face of the common man are a testament to his good heart. His simplicity and modesty despite his position earned him the respect and admiration of his constituents.

He knows and understands the suffering of his people with empathy and works tirelessly with the 9th Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and the Governor of the state to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda.

These selfless acts and qualities have far-reaching impacts, sparking a wave of kindness that echoes within and beyond the community. Through encouraging others to follow as example, they create a ripple impact of compassion and ignites a more supportive and loving environment for all, where kindness and generosity rapidly multiply.

To us, may we continue to appreciate and value this simplicity and generosity, and may it ignite in us a passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, promote a tradition of kindness, and inspire a better future for all. To our dear Hon. Magaji as he is rightly known, I pray that Allah Almighty grants him the desires of his heart, fulfils his purpose for humanity, and preserves him forever. He is indeed a rare gem!
