Op-Ed: 3 YEARS AFTER OTOGẸ, OUR VICTORY INSPIRES ME – Sen Ibrahim Oloriegbe

On this day three years ago, having unequivocally spoken through the thumb and ballot revolution a day before, the will of the people of Kwara Central Senatorial district for better representation became a reality as I was announced as the Senator-elect to represent the Kwara Central at the 9th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

While remaining at least 46 official days before we can mark 3rd anniversary of our inauguration, I deem it necessary to yet again, show my deepest appreciation to the people of my constituency for not only finding me worthy of their representation at the Red Chamber but giving the unflinching support, trust, and encouragement in delivering my responsibilities as a lawmaker.

Although, I had attained the pinnacle of my career, the day was a milestone in our life and history. It was a day people announced to the world they were done with mediocrity and vested in me, alongside others, the authority to bring them change they have been yearning for. And I want you to know it is such understanding of the responsibility this means, that, I have gone about my duties. From your battle cries to dances of victory, I still remember them every day. It is why I have become a retainer, rather than the rent-seeking one I replaced; combing the bushes and trenches, to bring home the goodies without noise and vanity.

We are not given to speeches. We just get the job done. You can see what we have done and the more we are capable to do. We shall be showing results, as we usually do, on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary.

I, Senator Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe, just wanted to use this medium to assure you of my undying commitment to ensuring that your interests are dutifully represented and that your yearnings for progress remain only my priority, as I continue to represent you at the Senate.

Once again, I thank the leadership of my party, the APC, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, my distinguished colleagues, the traditional institution and community groups led by the HRH Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari (CFR), the IEDPU, and the entire public for standing strong with me in this journey.

We will not disappoint you.

Yours,
Oloriegbe Yahaya Ibrahim
