The Onijagbo of Ijagbo, Kwara State, His Royal Highness, Kabiyesi Oba Sharafadeen Adeniyi Buhari Babalola, has called on the indigenes of the town resident in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria to support him and the community in the efforts to actualize the template for the rapid social and economic development of the town. Onijagbo, who was speaking at a special reception organized for him by the indigenes of the town resident in Abuja restates the need for the indigenes of Ijagbo to come home and invest in their community.
According to Kabiesi, “The needed factors that can ensure a profitable return on investment are present in Ijagbo, we have the location, we have a diligent population, the security of investments, we have the required infrastructure, we have the right attitude to wealth and wealth creation and the needed support from relevant quarters that will ensure profitability, so we indigenes must also participate in investing in our community. There is an industrial layout which has not witnessed rapid industrialization and the commercial activities must also improve”
He also disclosed his desire to actively engage the youth and refocus their energies on entrepreneurship to reduce unemployment. He urged Ijagbo indigenes in Abuja to look out for opportunities in different areas and make them available for the benefit of their community. He prayed for progress, protection, and special blessings of God for all Ijagbo residents everywhere they are in the world. He thanked Ijagbo residents for organizing a befitting reception in his honor and expressed the readiness to always honor them every time he is invited to witness their progress and be part of their development projects.
In his remarks, the newly appointed Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Barrister Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) expressed appreciation to Kabiyesi for finding time to visit Ijagbo indigenes resident in Abuja. He expressed the readiness of Ijagbo sons and daughters to support Kabiyesi in his aspiration to actualize his community development agenda. He urged Ijagbo indigenes in Abuja to come together and organize themselves to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ijagbo town.
The National President of Ijagbo Descendants’ Union, Chief Tunde Agbo Oyawoye, in his address read by the National Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Bayo Fatola, congratulates the sons and daughters of Ijagbo residents in Abuja and environ for their constant individual contributions to the development of Ijagbo community.
He said, “Many of you have made substantial financial contributions to projects and other noble causes in the community. I want to particularly congratulate you for coming together as a body, and corporate member of Ijagbo Descendants’ Union. You could not have chosen a better time and occasion, but in honor and solidarity for our Oba and the community, you individually represent the elite and stars of our community in terms of positions and resources, we require you to give back to our beloved people at home.”
In his remark, the ace broadcaster and former national President of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Chief Mrs. Moji Makanjuola, who was a guest urged unity and cooperation among the various communities in Ibolo land. He expressed their readiness to support Kabiyesi and Ijagbo communities in their quest for rapid socio-economic development.
Also speaking, a prominent indigene of Ijagbo in Abuja, Mrs, Abimbola Shobo congratulated Kabiyesi and the town for achievements and blessings witnessed since ascension to the throne and the new energy to mobilize the people of the town for rapid development. He urged dedication of all sons and daughters and prayed for God’s protection and guidance for Kabiyesi and all people of Ijagbo both at home and outside Ijagbo community.
Earlier in his remarks, the National Legal Adviser of IDU, Barrister Kamaldeen Fagbemi emphasized the need to have a well-organized, functional, and responsive IDU branch in Abuja, so that Ijagbo sons and daughters in the city can have a dependable channel of meaningful contribution to the development of Ijagbo Community.
