The Idofian Kingdom in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State was filled with excitement and joy as HRM Oba Adedamola Olarewaju Omikunle II (Ilufemiloye), the Oludofian of Idofian Kingdom, celebrated his one year coronation anniversary.
The event, which took place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. John’s Anglican Primary School playing ground, Idofian, also witnessed the conferment of chieftaincy titles on several distinguished personalities.
Alhaji (Dr.) Waheed Bello Amodu was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Asiwaju of Idofian Kingdom, while Hon. Mashood Alaka, Adviser on Party Affairs to the Kwara State Governor, was conferred with the title of Otun Aare Atobashe. Hon. Suliaman Lekan Gadaff was also conferred with the title of Aare Atunwase of Idofian land.
In his speech, Alhaji (Dr.) Waheed Amodu Bello, the newly installed Asiwaju of Idofian Kingdom, expressed his gratitude to HRM Oba Adedamola Olarewaju Omikunle II and the entire Idofian community for the honor. He highlighted the achievements of the Idofian community, including the establishment of Idofian Community Primary School, St. John’s Anglican Primary School, and Idofian Grammar School.
Alhaji Amodu also appealed to the government to assist the community in completing the Kabiyesi Palace, renovating Idofian Grammar School, and providing basic materials and equipment for learning and teaching. He also sought government assistance in renovating the two primary schools, constructing drainages and grading internal roads, and providing a new transformer to power the town.
The Asiwaju of Idofian Kingdom outlined his vision for transformation, which includes improving the quality of education, providing access to quality healthcare, empowering local businesses, and fostering social cohesion through community programs and cultural festivals.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included Irepodun LG Chairman, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, and the Kwara State House of Assembly member representing Omupo constituency. They commended HRM Oba Adedamola Olarewaju Omikunle II for his leadership and the conferment of chieftaincy titles on the distinguished personalities.
The event was attended by a large turnout of distinguished personalities, including kings from different towns in Kwara South, political stakeholders, and captains of industries. The occasion was marked with fanfare, music, and dance, as the people of Idofian Kingdom celebrated their monarch’s one year coronation anniversary and the conferment of chieftaincy titles on their sons and daughters.
