One Month Like One Year: Why Dadin-Kowa?
A few months ago, information began to circulate across Asa Local Government that the time had come for the area to produce a senator to represent their interests at the highest levels of government.
This movement sparked widespread discussion, with various individuals suggested as potential candidates who possessed the economic, intellectual, social, and psychological qualities required for leadership.
After much deliberation, the people of Asa converged on one name: Professor Fatai Aremu popularly known as Dadin-Kowa (Happiness For All), from Owode Onire. Despite being a renowned technocrat with modest political visibility, Professor Aremu’s reputation as an academician, researcher, philanthropist, advocate for development, and political scientist made him their natural choice.
FROM ACADEMIA TO POLITICS
In a series of meetings held to persuade Professor Aremu to run, community leaders urged him to contest for a senatorial seat in the National Assembly, emphasizing that his leadership could bring long-awaited progress to Asa and Kwara Central. Initially hesitant, Aremu humbly accepted their call, stating that he could not turn his back on his people’s wishes.
CREDIBILITY AND COMMUNITY IMPACT
Curious about the man behind the growing political movement, I conducted an independent investigation into Professor Aremu’s background and discovered a remarkable track record of integrity and community service. Beyond his impressive academic qualifications as a professor of political science, Aremu has been quietly driving impactful initiatives across Kwara Central.
In just one month, Dadin-Kowa, as he is fondly called, has spearheaded several transformative projects:
Youth Empowerment: Donated ₦1 million to the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association for their 11th empowerment program, underscoring his commitment to building the future of young people.
Improved Water Access: Repaired a hand-pumping borehole in Afo-Oja village and converted a long-damaged solar borehole into a motorized system, addressing critical water needs in Asa Local Government.
Educational Support: Distributed over 250 free JAMB forms to students in Kwara Central, promoting access to higher education for less privileged youth.
Business Support: Donated ₦5 million to the Kwara State Tailor Association, empowering members to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
A QUESTION OF POLITICAL PLATFORM
Despite the growing support for Professor Aremu’s candidacy, one question remains unanswered: which political party will he represent? The answer is that whichever party he chooses, the people of Asa Local Government have made it clear that they are united behind their son, Dadin-Kowa.
ASA’S TIME HAS COME
Professor Aremu, aka Dadin-Kowa, represents a new chapter for Asa Local Government. His intelligence, humility, and philanthropic spirit have resonated deeply with his people, and his candidacy is a testament to their belief that the time has come for Asa to take its rightful place in the political leadership of Kwara Central.
As the political season heats up, Dadin-Kowa’s journey will undoubtedly be one to watch. With Asa united behind him, his candidacy could well become a historic turning point not just for the local government but for Kwara State as a whole.
