The leaders in the Bolowou Zion community in Arogbo Ijaw, Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State have called on the state government to “rescind its decision to install the Amananawei of Bolowou Zion community.”
The leaders stated that “any attempt to go ahead to install the said king is an invitation to chaos and anarchy in the peaceful Christian community (Bolowou), which already has in place a Head/King of Zion.”
The warning was contained in a statement signed by eight leaders of the community, which they made available to our correspondent on Monday.
The statement was titled: ‘Bolowou chieftancy stool: An act of illegality and lawlessness or an invitation to chaos and anarchy in Bolowou by the Ondo State Government.’
According to the community leaders, the planned installation of a monarch by the state government was already a subject of litigation before a court.
They said: “It must be noted that the parties, including the Ondo State Government, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs e.t.c. (the defendants) in the matter, have been duly served and both the suit and the interlocutory injunctions are still before the court.
“Regrettably, despite the efforts/steps taken above, the Ondo State Government is still going ahead to install the grade ‘C’ king in Bolowou Zion, a Christian community which has only one church denomination (Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Zion) on April 28, 2023.
