• Gives Scholarship to the visually impaired boy
In commemoration of her birthday, the wife of the Senator representing Kwara Central, Hajia Maimunat Arike Oloriegbe, has through her charitable NGO, Matta Girls Foundation, extended humanitarian supports to some selected vulnerable sets of people in Kwara Central Senatorial District.
The celebration which was held yesterday at Bishop Smith Primary School featured the distribution of various working tools, food items and cash grants to widows and aged women as well as scholarship awards to a visually impaired boy.
Speaking at the event to JUST EVENT ONLINE , Hajia Oloriegbe, reiterated her dedication to the cause of humanity, saying that her commitment to providingsuccorr to the needy informed the choice of empowerment, which she said aligns with the abiding desire of her husband.
“I always feel concerned about the wellbeing of indigent people, especially the widows who lack adequate support and care. I have taken it as a point of duty to not only extend the hand of support to them but also associate with them to give them reassurance and a sense of belonging.
“There are some people here that I have never seen and that points to the blindness of this initiative to politics. I am of the view that the pressing needs of the people should be prioritized and no one who deserves to be supported should be shut out based on her political or religious affiliation
“This humanitarian outreach to mark my birthday this year aligns with the quest of my husband to alleviate poverty by empowering people with sustainable livelihood and capacity building.”
While imploring the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the empowerment materials, Hajia Maimunat, called on people of means to cultivate happiness in others by freely giving to those who are not so privileged.
It would be recalled that Matta Girls Foundation recently paid a visit to some orphanage homes where food items were donated with cash package and in the same vein awarded scholarships to primary school pupils proceeding to Secondary school.
The dignitaries at the event took turns to appreciate the consistent support of Hajia Maimunat to the less privileged people while also encouraging her not to relent in her effort to improve the wellbeing of the people.
