In commemoration of her birthday, the wife of the Senator representing Kwara Central, Hajia Maimunat Arike Oloriegbe, again through her charitable foundation, Matta Girls Foundation, extended humanitarian supports to some selected vulnerable sets of people in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital.

The celebration which started on Wednesday saw the NGO at the children reception center, where various gift items were presented to orphans through the perm sec Ministry of Social development; Mrs Rebecca Olanrewaju.

The Foundation also visited the Nigerian correctional service center on Thursday, and donated items such as: Clothes, Quran, soaps, mats, mosquito nets, others.

The final celebration which was held on Saturday at GRA Ilorin, featured the distribution of various working tools, food items and cash grants to women.

Speaking at the event, Hajia Oloriegbe, reiterated her dedication to the cause of humanity, saying that her commitment to providing succor to the needy informed the choice of empowerment.

“I always feel concerned about the wellbeing of indigent people, especially women and widows who lack adequate support and care. I have taken it as a point of duty to not only extend the hand of support to them but also associate with them to give them reassurance and a sense of belonging.

“There are some people here that I have never seen and that points to the blindness of this initiative to politics. I am of the view that the pressing needs of the people should be prioritized and no one who deserves to be supported should be shut out based on her political or religious affiliation

“This humanitarian outreach to mark my birthday this year aligns with the quest of my husband to alleviate poverty by empowering people with sustainable livelihood and capacity building.”

While imploring the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the empowerment materials, she called on people of means to cultivate happiness in others by freely giving to those who are not so privileged.

On her part, Dr Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi while describing the celebrant as a philanthropist that loves to give back to the society, noted that it has become her annual practice, to mark her birthday by giving to the needy.
she commended her for her kind gesture and prayed to God to continue to bless her and her family.

“I have know her since childhood, she is a nice person and she is always giving out especially to girl children. She doesn’t believe in extravagant life.”

While speaking, Dr Aisha Abubakar also described Hajia Maimunat has a benevolent person, who is always giving out. Added that it was this act that led to the establishment of Matta Girls Foundation.

“She is a mother to me, I grew up with her, have known her for over 40 years, and Matta Girls Foundation is going places”.

Furthermore, Olori Muslimat Olokanle described Hajia Maimunat as a pace setter.

“She is always ready to give to the people and wipe away their tears.”

The beneficiaries in their various submissions, appreciated Matta Girls Foundation for enhancing their livelihood, saying it will go a long way in sustaining them.

Also the dignitaries at the event took turns to appreciate the consistent support of Hajia Maimunat to the less privilege while also encouraging her not to relent in her effort to improve the wellbeing of the people.
