NSE Ilorin hold public lecture on challenges of environmental pollution, proffers solution

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ilorin Branch on Thursday during her October 2022 General Meeting held a public lecture on Industrialization and the Challenges of Environmental Pollution

In her lecture, Engr. Prof. Mrs Modeller A.A. Eletta, MNSE, FNSChE from the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Ilorin, said climate change is an existential threat facing the society, added that drastic changes need to be made, soon, to save the country and planet

Speaking further she posited that every nation has a responsibility to do what it can to reduce all environmental pollution. We all are responsible for environmental issues, so it’s our responsibility to Save Mother Earth by planting trees and saving water, she added

Speaking to Just Event Online, Kwara State Deputy Governor Mr Kayode Alabi ably represented by Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Aliyu Saifudeen said, environmental pollution is a challenge to the nation and it has been given concern, especially to the government at all levels. He said the government have been trying effort to mitigate its impact of environmental pollution,

Speaking further he noted that environmental pollution is being caused by the people, we have industrial emissions and dumping of refuse. our respective homes and lots of human activities which is leading to so much damage to our environment, especially the atmosphere because the air is being polluted as well, fossil fuels are also another cause,

He enjoined the people to work on their habits on how they dispose refuse as he also urged people to go green like solar energy

Commending the organizer of the event The Nigeria Society of Engineers Ilorin Branch, he said the program and topic are timely with the current issue facing the country which is a flood, he advised them to ensure sustainability and he charged them to continue to do more research on their topic

Awards and souvenirs were given to guests including the deputy governor, commissioner for housing, and National President NSE among others
