The President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr Margaret Aina Oguntala FNSE has described drilling of motorized borehole with reticulation along side a brand new power generation set in Oloje community by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ilorin Branch as a testament to the Association’s commitment to engineering excellence ,which aligns seamlessly with Pillar 5 of the NSE Strategic Agenda.
Represented by Engr. W. Kamila Maliki, FNSE, FAEng, mni on Tuesday at the Commissioning of the project, Oguntala appreciated Engr. Dr.Olusola Adetola Ogunjirin, FNSE, the Chairman of NSE Ilorin Branch, the Executives, Fellows and the entire members for such remarkable initiative.
She stressed that a critical element of NSE vision is to ensure that Engineers positively influence society and uplift the living standards of the communities.
Engr. Maliki emphasized the importance of sustainable projects that positively impact communities, urging the government and development partners to collaborate with the NSE to deliver more life-changing projects.
The President also encouraged the Oloje community to take care of the newly installed facilities, ensuring their proper maintenance and utilization
“I would like to acknowledge our alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).b SDG 6 declares the importance of achieving “clean water and sanitation for all”. It is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations General Assembly”.
He assured that the NSE will remain committed to bringing more crucial projects like such to the community.
While speaking, Chairman of NSE Ilorin Branch, Engr. Dr.Olusola Adetola Ogunjirin, FNSE, restated the Association’s commitment to societal development and improving access to clean water.
Acknowledging the guests present, he emphasized the importance of engineers in nation-building, not just through infrastructure but through impactful contributions to human well-being.
The Community Representatives, Mallam Yinusa Jimoh and Alhaja Rafat Raheem who spoke with the newsmen shortly after the Commissioning appreciated the NSE Ilorin for easing their stress. They promised to adequately maintained the facilities and put it to good use.
