Fellow Kwaran,on 22nd of may 2023 three weeks ago,I wrote an article little did I envisage that I’m going to stir up a hornet’s next. And untrain soldiers shooting sporadically over the article in some joints and assemblies in ilorin.they are everywhere some will call-in on radio program to share their views once they speak you already know they’re untrained soldiers shooting sporadically or comments on your post on social media just to attack you unnecessarily.though I didn’t allow them to hit me before I sent them back to where they came from.what was my offence? I wrote a piece where I set fresh agenda for my Governor for the second term in office.i urges Kwaran to support Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman “GAA” for the second term and assumed that the first four years was used to build a prosperous and healthier Kwara State for all.
I’m very sure my attacker’s didn’t read the article and if they did they had a pre-determined motive to find a scapegoat to hang in order to discourage others who may wish to do a seeming hagiography on Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman without them understand that only people like me and others patriotic writer’s in kwara state objectively share our view on happening in our state mostly on our write-up as we aren’t political, unlike some mischief- maker looking for relevancy and favouritism from the government of the day.
Let me therefore allay the fear of government bigots who attach conspiracy theories to every action of a critic’s, I’m not seeking any government appointment I’m of the firm believe that no self-respecting soul should beg to serve his state.it should be strictly on merit and I don’t see any logic in the ridiculous argument.
I was trained by parents who taught me that Atelewo Eni Okitannije meaning (All you could be sure of is a reward from your handworks) and I have since imbibe the culture and it has never fail me since thirteen good year’s that I have been in the struggle nobody in government today can come out and say that I lobby him for anything.
Let me also add that I have never disrespected the office of our amiable Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman and I will never disrespect him,I have met with the Governor three times and he has never told me not to criticise him. Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman appreciate people that critized him constructively and he adjust where it’s necessary.infact I owe him the truth and nothing but,the truth.nobody like Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman more than me . when someone like us criticized the government policy or take government to court shows that such policy needs to be revisit and must be an against Masse’s.
Mr speaker please sorry for my preamble, I’m an extrovert I hardly seen happening in the society or read without reacts.that is the nature of writing,as a writer we write to keep government on their toes not to deviate from all the campaign promise’s and put them on right path.we write to praise and commend government where it’s necessary, particularly when government are doing well .
Now to the business of the day,Mr speaker it has almost become a tradition for me to write,or openly express my view, on politics or social issues in kwara state where Kwara house of assembly is inclusive since 2010 now.
Mr speaker we have met more than three times and I can say that I knew you by reputation, let me remind you of our first meeting in your office sometime November 2019 where we discussed about the delayment of passage of freedom of information Act ( FOI) the meeting lasted for more than three hours, you are young vibrant, intelligent and resourceful youth God Almighty has blessed Kwara state.thus,I have had a cause to write on your performance and your colleagues at 9th Kwara house of assembly and offer my one Kobo advice for the 10th Kwara house of assembly in the public arena.
Mr speaker, Kwaran expectations from 9th Kwara house of assembly are enomous and it’s unfortunate that their performance are below expectations.let assume that their poor performances is because majority of them are first term except honorable saheed popoola and let assume that the first term was used to gather experience and lay a solid foundation for healthier kwara state legislative process.
Mr speaker,some Kwaran are of the opinion that 10th Kwara State House of Assembly will perform below 9th assembly that 15th out of 9th lawmaker’s aren’t return and I disagree with them in totality because am firm believe that you will guide them with your first four years experience,is enough to learn and build on your achievement and work on your shortcoming.legislature are the hallmarks of good governance.but, our people don’t concentrate on them.they focus more on executive Governor without them knowing that for Governor to spend One Kobo there is need for state lawmaker’s approval so Governor are powerless but, lawmaker’s has turned themselves to executive stooge.
Mr speaker,as I keep saying that modern day governance requires efficient and effective legislative work,the totality of where we are in kwara state shows that a lot need to be done to move the state forward, ENetSuD CEMP report revealed that there is disconnect between our lawmaker’s and their constituents which contributed to the challenges confronting us presently across 193 ward’s in kwara state. there’s urgent need for lawmaker’s to always relates with their constituents to work on their needs and facilitate developmental projects for them.
ENetSuD’s citizens enlightenment and Mobilization Program (CEMP) report has solved and make most of challenges confronting Kwara state easier for the 10th KWHA.all the data assessed are undergoing rigorous uploading on ENetSuD App for easy access .
Mr speaker,the basic duty of kwara state House of assembly is lawmaking,and on this I score 9th kwara State house of assembly low.because of their inability to sponsor new bill only one bill was introduced which is sport commission bill others were executive bills sponsored by the governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman (GAA).there is need for 10th KWHA to improve on these for them to succeed.how independent would a legislative arm of government be if it’s leadership is determined, sponsored and imposed against the will and yearning of it’s constituents? Kwaran expect effective legislative process from 10th KWHA and it’s easy if they can work on all our existing law’s that already begging for review.
Let me confess to you that nobody love this state more than me,my second book title “My Epistle A wake up call to the 10th KWHA” is a research book on effective legislative process and a guide for anyone seeking political office in kwara state.the book will be unveil in December this year may God Almighty Allah spare our life beyond the day sir.
Mr speaker,the freedom of information Act (FOI) was sponsored by Elite Network For Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) and the inability of 9th KWHA to amend the area where Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman want to be amended by KWHA revealed the failure of 9th lawmaker’s and portray them as house that are not serving the people interest.
Mr speaker am not against harmonious working relationship with the executive but,it must be for the interest of Kwarans not a rubber stamp.
With grave challenges confronting us in kwara state 10th Kwara state house of assembly have to prioritize CEMP reports implementation of community needs documented. will no doubt develop our dear beloved Kwara State and promote Mallam Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman good agenda for the people of kwara state.
Mr speaker, the lawmaker’s role in kwara state is most important in accomplishing whatever noble agenda of Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman government can muster.the role of legislative arm of government shouldn’t be a rubber stamp.rather should come up with veritable law’s that would engender stability in our state from infrastructure deficit, insecurity, poverty, unemployment, conducive environment and quality Education,and rebuild kwara State economy to match Lagos, Kano, River and other states in Nigeria.
I want the 10th kwara state house of assembly to be an assembly that will cater for the needs of our people,and up their game to promote kwaran interest to strengthen our unity. I want 10th KWHA to put eagle eyes on all the state MDAs to be open, corruption free and transparent in all their dealings.
Let me confess to you Mr speaker, that I don’t just believe in identified problem.i identify solution as well.head or tail there’s need for us to move this state forward and collectively we can do it.i will not cease in telling you the truth nothing but the truth Mr speaker.
