The House of Assembly Candidate for Kaiama State Constituency alongside notable local government and wards executives of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, on Sunday announced their defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara state.
Mohammed Babangida, who was until his defection the House of Assembly Candidate for Kaiama state constituency under the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, led the local government Vice-chairman, Secretary, Women leader, and all the ward chairmen to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the new entrants after a long-hour meeting with the Director General for the PDP Governorship Campaign Council, Prof Ali Ahmad, Babangida cited disintegration and lack of grounded structure in their former party as part of their reasons to join hands with the PDP.
He further added that the undevelopment and lack of adequate government attention in Kaiama local government fueled his ambition to make a change by contesting for the house of assembly seat.
Babangida, however, said that NNPP lacks the grounded structure to win any election in the state, adding that the PDP remains the only political party that can wrestle power and rescue Kwarans from the neglect, sufferings, and hardship caused by the ruling APC in Kwara and the country at large.
He, however, assured that the new entrants will mobilize voters and ensure victory for the Presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial, and all other candidates of the PDP contesting election in Kaiama local government.
“Today, by the special grace of God Almighty, we are here to assure the PDP of our unwavering support as we promise to mobilize every needed resource to win all the seats contested for at the February and March polls.”
Addressing the defectors, the Director General for the PDP Governorship Campaign Council salute their boldness for joining the party, while assuring them of equal opportunities when voted into power.
Prof Ali, therefore, urged the defectors to ensure they go back to their various political wards and ensure 100 percent victory for all the PDP candidates in Kaiama thereby actualizing the Kwara North agitation for a power shift.
Notable members of the NNPP who defected to the PDP in Kaiama include, Local government Secretary Mahmoud AbdulKareem; LG Women Leader, Safiya Mohammed; HOA Candidate for Kaiama State Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Babangida.
Others include Kaiama NNPP Chairman of Chairmen, Usman Salihu Babani; NNPP Wajibe Ward chairman who is the chairman of the HOR Candidate for the party.
