NDDC pledges to transform Agric in Niger Delta

The Niger Delta Development Commission has reiterated its commitment to modernising agriculture in the Niger Delta region to ensure food security.

Speaking during a presentation by the KASHA International Agricultural Development Organisation, in Port Harcourt, the Executive Director of Projects, NDDC, Mr Charles Ogunmola, disclosed that the commission would partner with other organisations to promote modern agricultural practices in the country.

Ogunmola emphasised that agriculture was a key sector with immense potential for creating jobs for unemployed youths.

He pointed out the immense success of the Goat Multiplication Project in bringing innovation to agriculture. He further articulated NDDC’s objective of executing stable and achievable agricultural initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Country Representative and Director African Project for KASHA International Agricultural Development Organisation, Ms Hilda Josef, stated the organisation’s readiness to work with the NDDC in introducing modern reproductive methods, particularly in the breeding of goats, in the Niger Delta region.

She stated that agriculture plays a crucial role in societal development and sustainability, and using scientific methods in reproduction improves efficiency and productivity in food production.

Josef also stressed the importance of passion among farmers, stating that agriculture offers abundant prospects and opportunities.
