NCDC reports 64 new COVID-19 cases, eight additional deaths across eight states, FCT

Eight states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 64 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to figures released on Wednesday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Eight additional COVID-19 related deaths were also reported by the agency.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Facebook page on Tuesday. Kaduna recorded the highest number of new infections with 23 cases followed by FCT – 13, Plateau – 8, Bauchi – 6, Lagos – 5, Rivers – 4, Bayelsa – 2, Jigawa – 2 and Kano-1.

The health agency said the 64 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 212,829.

However, 204,335 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With eight COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,914, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
