As the world marks World Book and Copyright Day (WBCD) on April 23, the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has drawn attention to the endless possibilities of books, while restating that it is intensifying the fight against piracy.
This year’s theme, ‘Indigenous Languages’, underscores the need to recognise linguistic diversity and the importance of preserving, promoting and encouraging the use of indigenous languages in literature and other creative works.
Director-General of NCC Dr. John Asein, in statement, said the commission guarantees adequate return on intellectual and financial investment in all creative sectors.
He called for collaboration between all stakeholders in the creative sector and the commission, saying it is working with relevant agencies in its public enlightenment campaigns as a prelude to the full scale national antipiracy drive.
