The spokesperson of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Zacks Dauda, has decried the alarming rate of irregular migration among Nigerians.
Dauda disclosed this to our correspondent in a phone interview on Saturday, adding that the sensitisation efforts of the agency on illegal migration have failed to deter Nigerians from embarking on such trips.
Dauda stated, “When someone promises any Nigerian that the grass is green out there, he or she does not think, he or she jumps at it. At the end of the day, they lick their wounds.
“On the part of NAPTIP, we embark on massive sensitisation about irregular migration. We aim to deter those who want to japa illegally.”
A former Nigerian Consul to Cameroon and Delegate to the World Expo and Economic Development Center in Paris, Ambassador Rasheed Akinkuolie, called on the government to fix the problems of poor education system and insecurity to stop migration of Nigerians
