NANS JCC Kwara axis inaugurates new executive members

 

The National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council  Kwara Axis on Wednesday, inaugurated the new excos that will pilot the affairs of the Association. The Association also launched 5th Edition of ACME Magazine.

Speaking on the topic, “2023 general election, the roles of Nigerian Students as the major electorate”, guest lecturer of the event, Prof. Ayokunle Afolabi Toye of the University of Ilorin said Nigerian students should gather and formulate knowledge. Be informed on the philosophies and manifestos of parties and candidates and also track records of candidates and credibility of claims

Speaking further, he posited that they should shape political opinion, awareness and engagement. They should also contribute to strategies and logistics for voter movement on election days.

He therefore urged the students not to allow the electoral activism compromise their academic pursuit

“Students should encourage, promote and act in acceptance of the results of free and fair elections, whether they favour your candidates of choice or not”.

“Don’t let your political activism compromise your CGPA or studentship, graduation is your first mission”.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq ably represented by SA Strategy, Alh Saadudeen Salahudeen in his speech, commended the students for making the state proud by the way they conduct themselves as they are the future leaders of the State.

“For the first time in Kwara, we have governor that is passionate about welfarism of the students. The condition of teachers were so bad that they were stealing in the markets in the previous government but the narration changed when this administration came on board”

Also, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Abolore Afeez Alabi at the event said, the government has interest of the students at heart and is doing everything possible to ensure education standards in Kwara.

“There is also an ongoing capital project across Tertiary Institutions in the State”. The state government has a synergy between it and the education sector”.

He said the achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq especially on Tertiary Education is enormous.

The commissioner however, shunned the students from thuggery, cultism and other social vices. Added that they should not be used by Politicians.
