The Social Democratic Chieftain, Barrister Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo on Wednesday, claimed that the Kwara State government under the leadership of Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq received the sum of N337bn revenue from June 2019 to December 2021
His claim was published across various social media platforms in the state insisting that the state government generated such a huge sum over the said years.
Reacting to the claim, the state government through the office of SA Political to Kwara governor publicly called for an open debate to challenge the claim by Barr. Iyiola Oyedepo.
According to the statement, the government is certain that the claim is a baseless lie. It is one of the several evidence-free postulations of Akogun Oyedepo who has a reputation for always wanting to be the wisest person in the room and the cleanest Kwaran that ever lived.
For the general public, however, we challenge the SDP chieftain to a debate to be broadcast live on various broadcast platforms and or any other platform of his choosing, which we will oblige and pay for. The media is also invited to this debate.
In his response, Oyedepo consented to the debate saying whoever is coming for this debate should be prepared to come with Kwara State Expenditure for the period including the BOQ for all the projects. The government should come up with the debt profile of Kwara state during its tenure.
This is because I have made some discoveries. We must talk about all the monies received and mobilized.
