
The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has handed over a block of three classrooms, VIP toilets, and a hand pump borehole to the Ilesa Baruba community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The initiative, according to the Commission, reflects its unwavering commitment to improving educational infrastructure and fostering community development through quality learning environments.

Speaking during the official handover ceremony, N-HYPPADEC Managing Director, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, FCNA, FNIIS, FNIM (Katukan Yauri)—represented by Engr. Temim A.O, MNSE, Area Officer, Jebba, through the Kwara State Coordinator, Hajia Hajara Alhassan Ndaman —emphasized the Commission’s belief that schools play a vital role not only in learning but also in strengthening social cohesion and preserving community identity.
The facilities were officially presented to Professor Halidu Abubakar Derekureku Kabawuko IV, Emir of Ilesa Baruba, and the school management for community use.
In his remarks, the Emir lauded N-HYPPADEC for its continued support and for implementing life-transforming projects across the state. He prayed for the Commission’s sustained success in fulfilling its mandate to empower host communities through improved education, sanitation, and access to clean water.
