Muhammad Abdullahi: A One-Man Battalion

In the realm of youth leadership and progressive advocacy, Muhammad Funsho Abdullahi stands tall as a shining example of service, sacrifice, and impact. A bold strategist, a refined communicator, and a dependable bridge-builder, he has carved his name into the hearts of many young Kwarans, not by noise, but by action. As an editor of repute and passionate youth development advocate, Mohammed Abdullahi has consistently proven himself to be not just a political figure, but a movement – a one-man battalion who carries people along and lifts others as he climbs.

Today, I celebrate a generous man, a progressive mind, and a leader by example. On his birthday, it is only fitting to reflect on the countless ways he continues to impact lives, including mine.

When we were preparing for the Prudent Watch @1 anniversary, one of my close brothers suggested him as a guest speaker. He vouched for his intelligence, capacity, and constant availability for the younger generation. I reached out to him, and even though he was in Abuja at the time, he assured me he’d be back in Ilorin for the program. Not only did he keep that promise, but he was also the first person to arrive at the venue, even before I did — while I was still running around sorting logistics. His session lit up the hall, the audience was elated and his performance left a lasting impression. That event opened doors for me — business connections, gigs, and relationships that still thrive today, all thanks to him.

As a leading figure in the All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) in Kwara State, where he serves as the National Leader, he has always guided many of us with mentorship and professional advice. I remember one night vividly. We were in Abuja for a national program. At around 12 midnight, my phone rang — it was “Leader Moh.” I don’t usually pick calls that late, but I answered. In his characteristic unassuming style, he said, “Come to Room 312 now.” I rushed down from my room. Among many things we discussed that night, he asked, “What’s your real interest in politics? Or are you just in it for being in it?” I couldn’t give a concrete answer. I just mumbled something about waiting for an opportunity. He didn’t scold me. He simply said, “We’ve worked hard for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory. We must position ourselves to benefit from this government.” That conversation stayed with me. It was a turning point.

Fast forward to Saturday, September 22, 2023, he called me at around 9:00 AM. I missed it because I was sleeping. When I returned the call, the first thing he asked was, “Can you do politics like this, sleeping at this hour?” I laughed. He then asked a few questions and ended with, “Send me your profile, let’s push something for you.” From that moment, he has pushed several political and non-political opportunities my way, too many to count. And I know I’m not alone. That’s the kind of person Muhammad Abdullahi is — a builder, a pusher, a bridge for others.

I pray that Almighty Allah continues to strengthen him, increase him in wisdom, and grant him the grace to keep serving and inspiring. He is truly a great man and a gift to the youth of Kwara and Nigeria at large.

Well, I intentionally didn’t describe him as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Youth Development because I’ve always known him as Leader Moh, and our relationship remains the same – rooted in brotherhood and mutual respect, not tied to any title or position.
