The Matta Girls Foundation, a renowned Ilorin-based non-governmental organization, on Friday, 9th August 2024, hosted a transformative career talk and mentorship session for its beneficiaries. The event aimed to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their future careers.
The session, held at the foundation’s Odota office, brought together a panel of distinguished resource persons from various fields. These experts shared their experiences, insights, and advice on how to navigate the complexities of career choices.
Professor Saudat Abdulbaqi, a trailblazer in Mass Communication, emphasized the importance of dedication and hard work in achieving success. Dr Aishat Tayo Abubakar, an Architecture expert from Unilorin, highlighted the value of surrounding oneself with positive influences and staying determined in the face of challenges.
Hajia Salman Bodunrin, a retired educator, shared her wisdom on the need for resilience and adaptability in today’s fast-paced world. Alfred Ogunlade, a counselling expert, guided the selection of appropriate subjects and courses for future careers. Agunbiade Toyin, a skilled electrician, and Sunkanmi Olaegbon, a furniture designer, in their respective remarks, demonstrated the benefits of acquiring technical skills for self-reliance and survival in addition to academic qualifications
