Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya has officially taken over as the 25th Director General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). The handover ceremony took place on April 30, 2025, at the DICON Headquarters in Kaduna.

The outgoing DG, Major General Aniedi Edet, in his farewell remarks, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, and other top officials for the support he received during his tenure. He lauded the signing of the DICON Act 2023 as a major milestone under his leadership and wished his successor a successful term.
In his acceptance speech, General Alaya assured stakeholders of his commitment to upholding the trust placed in him. He commended his predecessor’s achievements and pledged to build on the foundation laid to further position DICON as a vital player in Nigeria’s defence production capacity.
Highlights of the event included a tour of the Ordnance Factory, the formal signing of handover documents, and a group photograph with senior military officials and staff.
General Edet is expected to take on a new national assignment, while General Alaya begins his tenure with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and continuity at DICON.
