The Kwara State Government has further reiterated its commitment by putting in necessary machinery in a place where the salary payment of council workers would henceforth be paid by the treasury departments of all the council areas in the state.
It would be recalled that the present administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq aided this system where payment of salaries were contracted to a consultant.
The Commissioner for Local Government,Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon Aliyu Lafia Kora-Sabi disclosed this in a separate interactive meeting with the Staffs of Moro and Ifelodun Local Government at their secretariat during his ongoing familiarization visits.
Hon Aliyu said the restoration of salary payments is a further demonstration to the commitments of the present administration to further enshrines the autonomy of councils in the State.
He, however, charged the Council Staff, especially the Treasury Departments to brace up and take all stocks which would ensure speedy return of payments template to them.
Speaking at their respective Council Secretariat, The Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen of Moro, Hon Isiaka Abdulganiyu Alikinla and his fellow counterpart from Ifelodun Local Government Council, Hon Olajide Asonibare, described the Commissioner’s interactive meetings with the Staffs as a “wake-up call.”
Furthermore, they assured him of their maximum support of his good policies that would help councils to make things better.
In a replete development, the Commissioner paid an unscheduled visit to the ongoing construction of 22 Lock-Up Shops at Kara Market, Share. The construction is funded by Ifelodun Local Government Council .
He commended the TIC Chairman, Hon Olajide Asonibare for his foresight which would in turn increase the revenue generation of the council from intended occupiers and brings more fortune to the area.
Hon Asonibare also revealed that the ongoing construction is near commissioning because the work is on the verge of completion.
He further disclosed that among the reasons for putting up the structure is to grant the request of the marketers, which is to help them with befitting Market Stores that will enhance their daily activities and give them the privilege to expand beyond the limit they are at the moment.
