Labour unions, Kwara resolve minimum wage issues

Labour unions and the Kwara State government on Monday resolved the issue of payment of the N30,000 minimum wage to the state workers as they signed the consequential adjustment for senior civil servants in the state.

The labour unions comprised the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and the Joint Negotiating Council

A statement by the Secretary of the state Joint Negotiating Council, Tunde Joseph, which was made available late Monday said that the government resolved the issue of consequential adjustment on Monday by signing the implementation of the adjustment for workers on grade level 07 to 17 in the state public service.

The statement added, “The agreement was signed by the Head of Service, Mrs Dupe Oluwole, who represented the government while the organise labour side was represented by the TUC chairman, NLC chairman and JNC chairman.

“This development has brought to an end issue of negotiation on the consequential adjustment in Kwara State.

“In view of the above, the leadership of JNC, Kwara State council wishes to sincerely appreciate the support and encouragement of Kwara State workers for their patriotism before, during and after the negotiation and want to use this opportunity to thank the leadership of NLC, TUC and JNC council members for their understanding always
