In commemoration of 2023 International Adolescent Health Week, the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KWASPHCDA) organized a press conference tagged; “With and for Adolescents; Building a healthier and more inclusive future.”
While addressing the newsmen, the Executive Secretary health agency, Dr Nusirat Elelu, said in order to build a healthier and more inclusive future for the adolescents, it is important to continually sensitize and create awareness to improve their health and development.
She added that in the light of this, the international communities annually commemorate International Adolescent Health Week, (IAHW), with the aim to inspire Adolescents and their communities to advocate for a successful transition into adulthood.
She posited that during the week, attention to various issues affecting the health and development of adolescent are discussed.
“These includes; Substance abuse, Gender based violence and rape, Mental health, Sexually transmitted infections, Early marriage, Unplanned pregnancy, HIV, Access to Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services, among others.”
Dr Nusirat however assured that Kwara State team has put together series of activities adapted from the Federal Ministry of Health to make the week which would be celebrated from March 20th to 25th memorable.
Meanwhile, she congratulated the executive governor of the state, Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on his re-election and pray for another successful tenure.
Dr. Elelu equally appreciated the good work of her team members towards the success of the Governor’s administration.
