The Kwara State Council of Ulama has strongly condemned the ritual murder of Miss Hafsoh Lawal by Abdulrahaman Bello, describing it as a grave crime against Allah and humanity.
Rtd Grand Khadi of Shariah Court, Justice (Dr) S.O. Muhammed in a press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre in Ilorin on Tuesday, the Council expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and called for justice to be served.
They emphasized that Islam forbids the killing of innocent souls and that the perpetrator has committed an unpardonable offense.
The Council commended the Kwara State Police Command for their efforts in investigating the matter and appealed for a thorough investigation to bring all perpetrators to book, while pledging to assist the security agencies in getting to the root of the matter.
Furthermore, the Council announced plans to organize a meeting with Muslim leaders and clerics to discuss ways to prevent such incidents in the future. And also disclosed plans to hold a program for young Alfas on the best ways to carry out Dawah that enjoys the favor of Allah.
Justice S.O. Muhammed emphasized that Ilorin and Kwara State are not homes for ritualists and that Islamic culture does not condone such acts. The Council called on all Nigerians to avoid profiling any community for the sinful acts of a few individuals.
The Council however commended the Kwara State Government under the leadership of gov AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, for creating a conducive atmosphere for both religions to coexist peacefully.
“Ilorin and indeed, Kwara State, are not homes for ritualists. We are known for our Islamic culture, of which ritualism is not a part. We call on all Nigerians to avoid profiling any community for the sinful acts of a few in our midst. Ritual acts are offensive to all known religions. We must all rise up and be counted in the war against it”.
