The Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) to immediately invite the Chairman of the Kwara All Progressives Congress, Prince Sunday Fagbemi for immediate questioning over his outburst and unguarded statement that the party will outspend the opposition by emptying the State treasury to win the 2023 general elections
Addressing the newsmen at the PDP Secretariat, GRA Ilorin party Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed frowned at Fagbemi’s statement at the APC mini rally across the Obbo-Aiyegunle community in Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State that they have enough access to govt funds thereby, PDP leaders will go bankrupt if they spend as they do.
“Kwarans have also witnessed blatant, careless and reckless pilfering of government funds. An example is the one hundred and thirty-eight million Naira (N138m) by a contractor, Mr Abass Abdulrazaq, purportedly released for the purchase of electric transformers. We have also been assaulted by allegations of fraud, contract padding and outright graft levelled against the Kwara State APC regime, according to various Non Governmental Organizations, like Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD)”
Babatunde, therefore, noted that Kwara PDP is vindicated by the unguarded statement made by the Chairman of the APC.
“Indeed Kwarans now know the nefarious plans of the APC for the funds they have siphoned and continue to siphon from our common patrimony daily”.
He noted that APC intends to use the funds they have pilfered to induce voters, cause confusion and undermine the electoral process in other to secure the re-election of their unpopular, irresponsible, unresponsive and non-performing regime in the coming general elections.
We all see how the governor’s glossy and expensive re-election campaign billboards and posters are changed almost daily, obviously using state funds, added.
He however urged the good people of Kwara to support all PDP candidates across the board in the forthcoming general.
“It is clear that the PDP is the party that deserves the vote of Kwarans in the February 25th national elections and March 11 state elections. We urge the good people of Kwara to vote for PDP candidates across the board so that we can rescue Nigeria and indeed save Kwarans from the political hawks now in charge. We believe Kwarans deserve the best and the PDP will give them the best value for their votes”.
