The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has arrested one Abdulsalam Ajibola Tajudeen, for allegedly impersonating the Nigerian army and extorting unsuspecting civilians.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, who made this known in a statement on Monday, said the tracking unit of the Corps apprehended the 42-year-old man at Oke-Onigbin Isin local government area of Kwara state.
“We heard a report that one Abdulsalam a resident of Oke-Onigbin, Isin Local government area of the state, claimed to be a staff member of the Nigeria army, two victims came to report him that he collected a huge amount of money from them promising to help them secure admission into Nigeria Defence Academy Kaduna.”
“Also a Pastor reported that he ran away with his car after lending him public transportation”
The spokesman revealed that the suspect, after further investigation will be charged in court and prosecuted by the law.
Meanwhile, one of the victims, Prophet Samuel Arole, while narrating his ordeal said he has been trying to get in touch with the alleged suspect for several months until he was informed of his arrest a few days ago.
The suspect, Abdulsalam Ajibola Tajudeen, confessed to have been involved in committing the heinous crime, but however refute the allegation of stealing a car.
