A leading Pro-Democracy group, Kwara Must Change has appointed Mallam Abdullateef Babafila as head of its new Agro Data Sharing Initiative to facilitate avenue for federal and state government to share data of beneficiaries of government interventions at different levels in agricultural sector to avoid multiple beneficiaries and segregated intervention.
Kwara Must Change also said that federal lawmakers from Kwara State, both at the Senate and federal House of representative are encouraged to equally consult state ministry of agriculture to obtain data of beneficiaries of state government intervention to ensure that beneficiaries of lawmakers intervention in the sector are those who have not received support from the state government.
In a statement by the Convener of Kwara Must Change, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group said that,”We are pleased to announce the appointment of Abdullateef Babafila as the head of Agro Data Sharing Initiative to bridge gap existing between various stakeholders in the area of agricultural support and intervention to enhance food security.
In this role, Abdullateef will be responsible for leading the initiative to facilitate data sharing and collaboration among stakeholders in the agricultural sector, especially State Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Lawmakers, federal MDAs operating in Kwara State amongst others. Hamzat said.
Hamzat noted that, Kwara Must Change is aware that Federal and State government are implementing multiple agricultural intervention programs to support farmers in the state and in some cases, federal lawmakers roll out various kinds of interventions to complement efforts of government at the local level.
“Babafila will work closely with Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture, All federal lawmakers from Kwara State (Senate and Federal House of Representative) and other Federal MDAs operating in Kwara State to promote data sharing and drive innovation in agriculture.
According to Hamzat, data sharing amongst stakeholders in the agricultural sector will become the game changer for the state, as it would not only assist all stakeholders in obtaining quality and reliable data for effective policy making and monitoring and evaluation of programs, it will also identify areas of improvement, optimize resource allocation, enhance collaboration and drive sustainable agricultural growth in the state.
Agro Data Sharing is an initiative of Kwara Must Change, a leading Pro-Democracy group, which will serve as a central hub for data sharing, providing a platform for stakeholders to access and contribute relevant data.
This initiative will foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration, ultimately benefiting the agricultural sector and the state as a whole.”
